CareTag (“the App”) lets you store and show emergency medical information on your device. We designed CareTag to keep your data on your device by default.
What we collect
- Emergency profile data (on-device): name, blood type, allergies, conditions, medications, emergency contacts, notes, avatar image. This is saved locally on your device in Apple’s SwiftData storage. We do not operate our own servers.
- Optional iCloud Drive backup: if you choose backup/restore, the App writes an encrypted/JSON file to your personal iCloud Drive container. Apple processes and stores those files per Apple’s terms.
- Notifications: if you enable reminders, we store schedules on-device and ask iOS for permission to send notifications.
- Biometrics: Face ID / Touch ID is used locally to lock profile editing. We do not receive biometric data.
- Advertising (Free version): the App uses Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) for banner and interstitial ads, which may collect device identifiers and coarse data for ad delivery/measurement. Consent is requested where required (e.g., using Google’s UMP SDK).
What we do not collect
- No account signup and no server-side storage by us.
- No health analytics upload. Telemetry/analytics are disabled.
- No sale of personal data.
Third parties
When using iCloud Drive or AdMob, your data may be processed under those providers’ policies:
- Apple iCloud: apple.com/legal/privacy
- Google AdMob: policies.google.com/privacy and Google Ads Data
Your choices
- Access/Update/Delete: edit or delete data in the App at any time.
- Backup/Restore: optional; disable any time from Settings in the App.
- Ads & Consent: in regions requiring consent, you can manage ad consent via the App’s consent prompt; you can purchase Premium to remove ads.
- Notifications: revoke in iOS Settings > Notifications.
Data retention
We retain no server copies. Your data remains on-device and/or in your iCloud Drive until you delete it.
Security
Data is stored using iOS sandboxing. Editing can be locked with Face ID/Touch ID. iCloud uses Apple’s security mechanisms. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
Children
CareTag may be used by parents/guardians to manage child profiles. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children.
International
Your iCloud provider may process data in your region per Apple’s terms. We do not transfer data to our own servers.
